Restamp continued...

In a Lauzau And Associates Restamp, 'old' item numbers are actually 'restamped' with the desired 'new' item number, resulting in only a single (1) item record for that item. First, utilities are run on your AS/400 to find every file (in IP and even custom libraries) on your system that contains an IP Item Number.  Next, an Old-New Item Number cross-reference file is created (it can even be done from a file on your PC) then audited and validated.

Once the files have been pinpointed by the utilities, and the Old-New Item Number cross-reference is complete and valid, the actual Restamp process can be run.  After the file restamping is completed, processes are run to realign the IP Stock Ledger to reflect the changes made.

How long will a Restamp take?
Once the utilities have been run, the cross-reference file is stable and valid, and a successful Restamp test has been run on your system, the actual live Restamp run can be scheduled.  Traditionally, these Restamps have been run on a weekend, to minimize inconvenience to IP users.  The actual length of time to do a Restamp depends on what type of AS/400 and Operating System you have, as well as the number of files and number of records in those files on your system.  Historically, Restamps have taken anywhere from 4 hours to 36 hours to run.  If you have a good IP Test environment, the Restamp testing process can yield a good estimate on the time needed to run a Restamp on your live IP system.

I'd like to know more about the Item Restamp Process.
This Item Restamp procedure has been run successfully for several of our IP clients.  Please give us a call at 614-759-1121 to find out more about the Restamp process, and how it can meet your business needs.
